A Rye Pottery "Chequer" pattern Plate. Impressed Rye to base. This pattern echoes the work of Swedish designer Stig Lindberg and the textiles of Lucienne Day in its use of small and intricate patterns. It is typical of styles in the 1950s and was designed by Jack Cole. The design was chosen to be shown at the Festival of Britain in 1951.
